After the Wars   After the Wars
This website is the online component of a radio documentary series broadcast on NPR which deals with the aftermath of the civil and guerilla wars in Central America. Each episode is available in streaming format along with a bibliography of books and websites. The client, producer Maria Martin, is based in Texas and Guatemala.

Used Flash to deliver audio in a user-friendly controller; PHP for site architecture.

Joe Hoy did a wonderful job for this project: incorporating audio, photographs, and great design to showcase a comprehensive project on Central America. In addition to his substantial talents as a web designer and developer, he is also a great person to work with–taking initiative when it's needed and being flexible and collaborative when called for. He's both an artist and a technologist.
– Maria E. Martin
   Director, GraciasVida Center for Media

Chris Hambone Cameron

Jambon

  Chris "Hambone" Cameron
and his band Jambon
Chris is a Chicago music scene legend, playing keyboards for Sonia Dada, Chevere, Big Twist & the Mellow Fellows, and more bands and studio credits than we can list. His own site reconnects him with his old fans and promotes his new band Jambon. The site for Jambon uses streaming audio and video to sell band merchandise and inform fans about upcoming shows.

Joe Hoy did a great job with my website. He has a very intuitive sense of design. We've just scratched the surface of what he visualizes for the site. He possesses many of the attributes I look for in musicians I collaborate with. He's an artist, but he's easy to work with, and he's fast. He just gets it!
– Chris "Hambone" Cameron

KiDesign   KIDesign
The toy design and development firm in Evanston, Illinois, is a division of Kindermusik, International. Their site needed to be playful yet reflect the serious approach they take to their work.

The visual metaphor is that of the old viewmaster projector, with the client's projects cycling through the frame. (Flash and PHP.)

Thanks for all your work on our site. It is fabulous! You have done a masterful job of listening and translating our thoughts into action.
– Bob Harper

  Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago
This is where I came in: I designed and maintained the website for an art museum for three years. These links go to a snapshot of the site when I left in 2000; the design served the museum so well that it was up for six years before the redesign (an eternity in internet years.)
